Egypt launches professional diploma in psychological support for children
The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity, in collaboration with Ain Shams University, has commenced a professional diploma program focused on psychological counseling and support for children and adolescents. The initiative aims to develop specialized personnel capable of providing enhanced mental health services to children and their families.
The program combines academic study with practical training, with approximately 40% of total study hours dedicated to field training within the Ministry’s psychological counseling centers. This structure is designed to allow students to apply academic knowledge to real-world professional settings.
As part of the initiative, the Ministry of Social Solidarity provided 30 scholarships to its employees and workers in social care institutions. These beneficiaries were selected from over 500 applicants through competitive evaluation tests. The diploma is implemented by the Psychological Counseling Center at the Faculty of Education and will grant certificates accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities.
