Egypt Ministry of Agriculture reports October activities and food security efforts
The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has released a report detailing its activities and field efforts throughout October. Key initiatives focused on supporting strategic crops, particularly wheat, through instructional seminars and ensuring the availability of essential production inputs like certified seeds and fertilizers.
In terms of land protection, authorities reported the removal of 19 illegal encroachments on agricultural land and state property, totaling approximately 2,490 square meters. The ministry also conducted inspections of 20 spatial change points in the Al Hammam area. To improve irrigation, officials completed the cleaning of 34 secondary irrigation channels and 26 drains, covering a total length of over 31,000 meters across several governorates, including Beheira, Fayoum, and Kafr El-Sheikh.
Broader food security efforts included the lining of 93 irrigation channels in Beni Suef and field visits to North Sinai. Additionally, the ministry engaged in international cooperation, including participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization agricultural exhibition in China and hosting delegations from Uganda and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to monitor development projects in Matrouh.
