Egypt Ministry of Housing announces new residential units and land lotteries

Egypt's Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities has announced several initiatives to expand housing access and regularize land ownership.

In New Obour City, Minister Randa El-Minshawi announced five public lotteries scheduled for September 8 and 9, 2026. These lotteries aim to settle citizens who have regularized their status on added lands in areas such as Al-Amal, Al-Qadisiyah, and Kilometre 48. The process covers various land sizes, ranging from 209 square meters to 4,200 square meters, to integrate these zones into the urban plan and provide necessary infrastructure.

Additionally, the Ministry is launching a major rent-to-own housing project involving 25,000 units for low-income citizens. This includes 10,000 units from the New Urban Communities Authority and 15,000 units from the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund under the ‘Housing for All Egyptians 9’ initiative.

Applications for people with disabilities begin on September 20, 2026, while general applications open on September 28, 2026. The rent-to-own system allows for a 20-year period, starting with a three-year renewable lease that can transition to full ownership through mortgage financing.
