Egypt Ministry of Interior opens 2027 Hajj lottery registration

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has announced the opening of applications for the 2027 Hajj lottery (1448 AH). The registration period began on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and will remain open until Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Citizens can apply through three primary methods: visiting any police station or center nationwide regardless of residence, applying electronically via the Ministry of Interior’s unified Egyptian Hajj portal, or contacting the dedicated Hajj application call center at (02) 27983000.

Key requirements for applicants include holding a valid national ID card and being an Egyptian citizen with full legal capacity. To ensure fairness, applicants must choose only one method of pilgrimage—lottery, tourism, or social solidarity—and cannot apply to multiple categories. Additionally, the lottery is restricted to individuals who have never performed the Hajj pilgrimage before in their lifetime.

Medical fitness is a mandatory condition. Certain health conditions, including advanced kidney failure, pulmonary fibrosis, severe respiratory diseases, advanced cardiovascular or liver diseases, and cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s or dementia, may disqualify applicants from participating.
