Egypt monitors international Salmonella outbreaks

Egypt's Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has confirmed that the country's epidemiological situation remains stable despite international outbreaks of Salmonella. The Ministry is actively monitoring global health developments and foodborne disease trends through continuous surveillance and investigation systems.

The monitoring comes in response to Salmonella outbreaks reported in several countries, including a notable Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak in Belgium. Officials emphasized that international outbreaks do not necessarily imply a risk within Egypt, but rather serve as a basis for early warning and proactive risk assessment regarding international food supply chains.

Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Amr Kandil, stated that preventive medicine teams are conducting daily monitoring of infection rates and case patterns. He confirmed that no unusual outbreaks related to these international events have been detected within Egypt, and that all health decisions are based on local data and scientific risk assessments.
