Egypt Names New Security Chiefs for Giza and Minya

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced two senior police appointments as part of its 2026 internal transfers. Lieutenant General Hatem Hassan was appointed director of security for the Giza governorate, succeeding previous postings that include leading the security directorates of Matrouh and Minya. The move is presented as part of the ministry’s broader effort to modernise the security apparatus, integrate younger officers and improve public services.

In a separate decision, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ezzat was named director of security for the Minya governorate. Ezzat, a graduate of the Police College (1990) and native of Asyut, has held several key positions, most recently as director of security for the Faiyum governorate and roles in the national security apparatus and the inspection and control sector. Both appointments are framed as a continuation of the annual rotation and promotion programme aimed at strengthening law‑enforcement leadership across Egypt’s provinces.
