Egypt 2026 police leadership reshuffle
Overview
In July 2026 Egypt’s Ministry of Interior announced a broad set of senior‑officer transfers. The first notice reaffirmed confidence in existing leaders, re‑appointing Major General Abdullah Jalal as director of security for Aswan and retaining key assistant ministers—Major General Attaf Abdel Aziz for national security and Major General Nasser Mohi al‑Din for media and relations. A later announcement detailed new appointments for other provinces: Lieutenant General Hatem Hassan became director of security for Giza and Lieutenant General Ahmed Ezzat was named director for Minya.
In early August 2026 the ministry issued another wave of internal transfers focused on police investigators in Qalyubia and Kafr El Sheikh. Senior officers such as Major Amir Al‑Komi were appointed heads of precinct investigations in Qalyubia, with other posts filled by Majors Mansour Al‑Komi, Ahmad Sami and Lieutenant Youssef Al‑Shami. Major Mustafa Kamel took charge of the Special Crimes Section and Major Mohamed Khalifa oversaw the second district of Shubra El‑Kheima. In Kafr El Sheikh, Colonel Mohamed Al‑Husseini, director of criminal investigations, oversaw the reassignment of precinct heads, appointing Colonel Mohamed Abu Al‑Khair to the Hamoul criminal research branch, Colonel Ali Nadda to the western sector, and several lieutenants and majors to traffic, criminal and district investigation roles. The reshuffle was presented as part of the ministry’s broader plan to boost security performance, leverage field experience and raise disciplinary standards across the police force.
