Egypt launches EIPICO 3 biopharma plant in 10th of Ramadan
On 26 July 2026, Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khalid Abdelghaffar inaugurated the EIPICO 3 biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the industrial city of 10th of Ramadan. The plant, owned by the Arab Group for Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Supplies (Akdima), represents an investment of more than $100 million and occupies 10 500 m².
It is the first modular‑construction biopharma plant in Egypt and the Middle East, capable of producing full‑process biologics from genetically modified cells to final drug products. The factory will manufacture 14 products targeting cancer, blood disorders, fertility, kidney disease and anaemia, using bioreactors, preparation zones and automated packaging lines supplied in partnership with Swedish firm Pharmadule.
EIPICO operates three sites totaling 130 500 m², 59 production lines, and an annual output of 327 million units. In the previous year the group recorded 10.8 billion Egyptian pounds in production, 9.3 billion in sales, and exported to over 60 countries, accounting for 25 % of Egypt’s drug exports and 30 % of its exports to Africa.
