Egypt health sector infrastructure upgrades
Entities: Acdima Group · Khaled Abdel Gafar · Dr. Khalid Abdelghaffar · Arab Group for Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Supplies (Akdima) · 10th of Ramadan City
Overview
Following mid‑July inspections of schools, farms and hospitals, the health‑sector push continued on 26 July 2026 when Health Minister Dr Khalid Abdel‑Ghaffar inaugurated the EIPICO 3 biopharmaceutical plant in the 10th of Ramadan industrial city. The $100 million, 10 500 m² modular facility, owned by the Arab Group for Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Supplies (Akdima), is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East. It will produce 14 biologic medicines for cancer, blood disorders, fertility, kidney disease and anaemia using Swedish‑supplied bioreactors and automated packaging. EIPICO, which already operates three sites totaling 130 500 m² and exports to more than 60 countries, expects the new plant to strengthen domestic drug supply, lower patient costs and expand Egypt’s pharmaceutical export footprint.
