Egypt opens Hajj 2027 lottery applications, lists prohibited health categories

Egypt's Ministry of Interior announced that applications for the 2027 Hajj lottery (1448 AH) will be accepted from 12 August 2026 until 27 August 2026. Applicants can submit their requests at any police centre, through the Ministry's online portal, or by calling the dedicated Hajj call‑centre (27983000). Eligibility requires Egyptian citizenship, a valid national ID, and that the applicant has never performed Hajj; only one application per person is allowed.

The ministry also published the health conditions that disqualify candidates, including chronic kidney failure requiring dialysis, pulmonary fibrosis, advanced cardiovascular or liver disease, Alzheimer’s or other severe neuro‑psychiatric disorders, active cancer treatment, active infectious diseases such as open pulmonary tuberculosis or hemorrhagic fevers, morbid obesity, pregnancy in the last three months or high‑risk pregnancy, and children under 12 years. All selected pilgrims must receive the mandatory quadrivalent meningococcal vaccine at least ten days before travel and any additional vaccines required by Egyptian and Saudi health authorities. Providing false medical information can lead to cancellation of the Hajj permit.
