Egypt petroleum sector shows growth in refining and crude production
Egypt's Ministers of Petroleum and Planning, Karim Badawi and Ahmed Rostom, met to review the performance of the petroleum sector, focusing on increasing production and enhancing investment.
Minister Rostom highlighted significant growth in petroleum refining activities, which saw a 22.4% increase during the third quarter of the 2025/2026 fiscal year and an 8.7% growth for the full fiscal year. He noted that the successful payment of dues to foreign partners has restored confidence in the investment climate, facilitating new exploration and field development.
Minister Badawi reported that crude oil production is returning to an upward trend and that efforts are underway to stabilize and eventually increase natural gas production. The ministry's primary focus remains on developing existing fields and intensifying search efforts for new discoveries to meet domestic energy needs.
