Egypt PM meets Maersk CEO to boost maritime transport and logistics cooperation

Egypt's Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly met with Vincent Clerc, Chief Executive of A.P. Møller‑Maersk, and his delegation to discuss expanding cooperation in maritime transport and logistics. The talks highlighted the strategic importance of the Suez Canal for global trade and Egypt's efforts to enhance navigation safety and service quality.

Both sides welcomed the recent restart of a Maersk service through the canal in partnership with Hapag‑Lloyd after a security assessment in the Red Sea. Madbouly emphasized that improving the canal’s traffic flow and the surrounding economic zone is essential for Egypt's role as a key global trade hub. Clerc pledged that Maersk is "committed to returning trade traffic through the canal" and will continue to invest in Egypt's shipping and logistics market.

The meeting also addressed broader plans to develop the Suez Canal corridor, support the maritime workforce, and attract additional shipping lines, aiming to reinforce Egypt’s competitiveness in international trade.
