Egypt poultry sector sees production growth amid price fluctuations
Poultry and egg prices in Egypt have experienced significant fluctuations throughout September. Recent market data shows white poultry prices at approximately 68–69 EGP at the farm level, reaching 78–83 EGP for consumers. Other varieties include Sasso poultry at 113–118 EGP and Baladi poultry at 130–135 EGP per kilogram for consumers. Egg prices have also seen increases, with carton prices rising by approximately 17–18 EGP.
Despite recent price volatility, officials note that the poultry sector is seeing a surge in production. Dr. Tarek Suleiman, head of the livestock development sector at the Ministry of Agriculture, stated that Egypt is exporting poultry products to approximately 35 countries. The sector currently supports roughly 3.5 million jobs with investments exceeding 200 billion EGP. Total poultry production has reached 1.6 billion birds, while table egg production has grown by 14% to 16 billion eggs.
