Egypt prepares for autumn 2026 and winter time transition
Egypt is transitioning into the autumn season and preparing for the shift from daylight saving time to winter time. The autumn season of 2026 is expected to last 89 days and 20 hours, concluding on December 21, 2026.
Meteorological forecasts indicate that while autumn typically brings moderate temperatures, certain regions may experience weather instability. The seasonal Sudan low may bring heavy thunderstorms and potential flash floods to southern areas, the Red Sea governorate, and Sinai. Additionally, cold air in the upper atmosphere could cause clouds, thunderstorms, and wind activity in northern regions. A schedule of seven seasonal storms (Nawat) has been identified for the remainder of the year, including the Al-Maknasa and Qasim storms.
Regarding time changes, Egypt will officially end daylight saving time at the end of Thursday, October 29, 2026. Following the regulations of Law No. 24 of 2023, clocks will be set back by 60 minutes at midnight, meaning 12:00 AM will become 11:00 PM. Winter time will officially commence on Friday, October 30, 2026. While internet-connected devices typically update automatically, manual adjustments will be required for wall clocks, wristwatches, and car clocks.
