Egypt Raises Public‑Sector Salaries with New Minimum Wage Effective July 2026

The Egyptian Ministry of Finance announced that salaries for the state administrative workforce will be paid on 20 July 2026, incorporating a new wage‑increase package that takes effect with the 2026/2027 fiscal year. The reform lifts the minimum monthly wage to 8,000 Egyptian pounds and allocates approximately 822.8 billion pounds for staff remuneration in the national budget.

New salary brackets were disclosed: for example, the “Excellent” grade will receive 14,900 EGP, the “High” grade 12,900 EGP, and the “Sixth” (support staff) grade 8,100 EGP, up from 7,000 EGP. Disbursement schedules were detailed for ministries, with most payments on 20 July and additional dates for others.

Social support funds also rose, with 836.8 billion pounds earmarked for subsidies, social protection programmes, energy, and housing. The measures aim to improve purchasing power and alleviate inflation‑related pressures on public‑sector employees.
