Egypt rejects Palestinian displacement at UN General Assembly

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has reaffirmed Egypt’s categorical rejection of the displacement of Palestinians. Speaking on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, Abdelatty met with representatives of American Jewish organizations and Arab foreign ministers to discuss regional stability.

Abdelatty condemned unilateral Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, specifically citing settlement expansion and annexation attempts as violations of international law. He emphasized that such measures undermine the possibility of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

During consultations with Arab foreign ministers, the Minister stressed that the Palestinian cause is at a “historical turning point,” necessitating unified Arab action to protect Palestinian rights and end the occupation. Additionally, Abdelatty addressed regional tensions, condemning attacks on Arab sovereignty, calling for the containment of escalation, and asserting that Red Sea security is the exclusive responsibility of its coastal states.
