Egypt restructures National Investment Bank and draws $10 bn in new renewable projects
During a committee meeting, Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rustom presented a comprehensive restructuring plan for the National Investment Bank. The plan aims to maximise the bank’s assets, improve operational efficiency and strengthen its role in financing major state‑owned projects, while increasing collaboration with the private sector.
Investment Minister Mohamed Fereid welcomed Norwegian ambassador Eric Husum and SKATC CEO Terje Bilskoeg, reiterating the government’s support for serious investors. SKATC, which has already invested about $5 bn in Egypt, announced a further $5 bn commitment over the next two years for renewable‑energy, green‑hydrogen, water‑desalination and data‑center projects. The officials highlighted Egypt’s strategic location, free‑trade agreements and ongoing economic‑reform programme as key attractions for green‑energy and digital‑infrastructure investments.
