Egypt rolls out 15% pension boost and nationwide food subsidy distribution on July 1, 2026

The Egyptian government announced that pension payments will increase by 15% beginning 1 July 2026, benefiting roughly 11.5 million retirees and disability pensioners. The increase, approved by President Abdel Fattah Al‑Sisi, adds up to a maximum of 2 505 EGP per beneficiary and will cost about 70 billion EGP annually. Disbursements will be made through banks, post offices, ATMs and electronic wallets to avoid queues.

At the same time, the Ministry of Supply and Demand Relief confirmed the start of the July 2026 food‑subsidy distribution, also on 1 July. More than 61.5 million citizens holding ration cards can collect subsidised items at over 40 000 authorized outlets between 9 am and 9 pm daily. Each eligible person receives around 50 EGP worth of staples such as 800 ml blended oil, 1 kg sugar, flour, canned chicken broth and other basic foods, with prices listed for each product to ensure transparency and prevent price manipulation.
