Egypt seeks to attract AI infrastructure and data center investments

Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindi, met with the National Council for Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, and Emerging Technologies to discuss strengthening the nation's capabilities in these fields. The meeting focused on advancing the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and developing governance frameworks.

Minister Hindi highlighted intensive efforts to attract investments in AI-supporting infrastructure and data centers. The strategy aims to localize technology, create specialized jobs for youth, and encourage global companies to establish centers of excellence in Egypt.

Key national AI applications have already been launched through the Ministry's Applied Innovation Center, including the 'Karnak' large language model, the 'Lughat' English language learning app, and the 'Bel-Masri' platform, which features speech-to-text, machine translation, and text-to-speech engines. Additionally, the council reviewed progress on the 2025–2030 National AI Strategy, noting the deployment of over 40 AI applications across the government and banking sectors.
