Egypt seeks to expand investment ties with Italy and the United States

Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid, held separate meetings with Italian and American officials to discuss expanding foreign investment and economic cooperation.

In discussions with Italian Ambassador Agostino Palizzi, the focus was on deepening investment flows in sectors such as textiles, food industries, and renewable energy. The meeting reviewed the progress of Italian companies in Egypt, including Calzedonia, which is establishing new factories in Sadat City and Helwan. The Minister highlighted Egypt’s stable macroeconomic indicators and the government's priority to empower the private sector and facilitate business environments through free zones and integrated investment areas.

In a meeting with Mark Mitchell, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Middle East and Africa, and a U.S. delegation, discussions centered on enhancing U.S. investment in the Egyptian market. Key topics included leveraging Egypt’s strategic location and human resources to attract American capital. Both parties explored new cooperation paths, specifically in the mining sector, aiming to attract specialized U.S. companies to maximize the local value of Egypt’s mineral resources.
