Egypt sends over 280 aid trucks to Gaza to address bread shortages

The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has dispatched more than 280 trucks carrying flour and food baskets to the Gaza Strip to combat severe bread shortages. The most recent convoy, which departed early Sunday, carried over 3,676 tons of humanitarian supplies, including flour, medicine, and fuel for hospitals, bakeries, and other essential facilities.

This marks the 302nd convoy sent from Egypt to Gaza since the ERC launched its pro-Gaza humanitarian initiative in late July 2025. The supplies will be handed over to the Egyptian Aid Committee in Gaza for distribution to bakeries whose operations have been affected. The ERC reports having distributed more than 1 million tons of aid through 75,000 volunteers since the crisis began.

According to Gaza health authorities, four new deaths and 14 injuries were recorded in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday. Since the Israel-Hamas ceasefire took effect in October 2025, the death toll has reached 1,551, with 5,573 injuries. The total number of Palestinian fatalities since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, has risen to 74,544, with 175,692 injuries reported.
