Egypt shows investment resilience amid economic shifts

Foreign investment in Egypt is showing resilience despite rising oil prices and currency fluctuations. According to Morgan Stanley, recent portfolio outflows have been significantly lower than those seen during the initial market shocks earlier in 2026, suggesting increased investor confidence in the country’s economic policy framework.

Morgan Stanley maintains a positive outlook on Egypt’s six-month Treasury bills, noting that high yields remain attractive to international investors seeking returns that compensate for exchange-rate risks. The Egyptian economy continues to be supported by strong remittances from citizens abroad and improved Suez Canal revenues.

Separately, Egyptian officials reported that total Egyptian investments across the African continent have reached $14 billion. These investments are distributed across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, roads, and hospitals.
