Egypt governorates conduct widespread market inspections and seizures

Authorities across several Egyptian governorates have intensified inspections to combat commercial fraud and ensure food safety.

In Assiut, weekly raids resulted in 662 supply reports, the seizure of 123 kilograms of unfit meat and poultry, expired confectionery, and 29 bags of subsidized flour intended for the black market. Officials also seized 43,000 liters of fuel being handled illegally and shut down an unlicensed food packaging factory.

In Minya, veterinary inspections led to 33 reports and the seizure of 864 kilograms of expired or unfit meat, fish, and poultry. Meanwhile, in Monufia, authorities issued 147 supply reports and seized 60 tons of raw cooking oil and 395 gas cylinders.

In Dakahlia, the summer 2026 sale season is underway with 48 participating shops. Regulatory bodies are monitoring these businesses to ensure that advertised discounts are genuine and that product quality meets standards.
