Egypt targets global logistics hub through new trade corridors and services council

Egypt is implementing strategic initiatives to transform into a global center for transport, logistics, and exports. The government is developing eight integrated logistics corridors designed to connect maritime ports with industrial, agricultural, and mining production zones. These corridors, which include routes such as Arish–Taba, Sokhna–Alexandria, Safaga–Qena–Abu Tartur, and Cairo–Alexandria, aim to reduce transport costs and improve export competitiveness by linking production sites directly to export outlets.

Approximately 80% of the infrastructure for these corridors has already been established. Additionally, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade is working to establish a dedicated Services Export Council. This council aims to enhance coordination between relevant authorities and service providers, promoting Egyptian services—such as technology and medical tourism—in international markets to diversify export sources and increase foreign currency reserves.
