Egypt to expand strategic commodity reserves to ensure market stability

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting to review efforts to increase strategic commodity reserves and ensure market stability. The meeting involved coordination between the ministries of Supply, Agriculture, Finance, and Planning, as well as the Future of Egypt Agency for Sustainable Development.

The government aims to secure sufficient reserves of essential goods, including wheat, oils, sugar, meat, poultry, and various strategic crops. This initiative is intended to ensure long-term supply sustainability and meet citizen needs across all governorates, particularly in response to regional and global instability.

Discussions also covered plans to expand the number of fixed and mobile commodity outlets, especially in rural areas and underserved regions, to provide goods at affordable prices. Additionally, authorities will intensify daily market monitoring to track commodity circulation and pricing to ensure consistent supply.
