Egypt launches 15,000 rental housing units under national initiative

Egypt's Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities is launching a new phase of the ‘Housing for All Egyptians’ presidential initiative. The Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund will offer 15,000 housing units under a rental system. These units are distributed across various governorates and new cities, including 8,464 units in governorates, 3,256 in new cities, and 3,280 units from the ‘Decent Life’ (Hayah Karima) initiative.

The units vary in size, typically ranging from 75 to 100 square meters. Eligible applicants must meet specific age and income requirements set by the Ministry. The initiative aims to support low- and middle-income citizens, including a 5% allocation for persons with disabilities.

In addition to the housing launch, the Ministry is overseeing infrastructure and development projects in new cities such as Sheikh Zayed and October Gardens. These efforts focus on improving roads, water networks, and electricity stations to enhance the quality of life for residents and maintain urban planning standards.
