Egypt to raise pensions 15% and start July 2026 Takaful & Karama payouts

President Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi signed a presidential decree (No. 271/2026) that raises all public pensions by 15% starting 1 July 2026. The increase will be applied to roughly 11.5 million retirees and pensioners and is expected to cost about 70 billion Egyptian pounds, with the highest boost reaching 2,505 EGP. The National Social Insurance Authority has completed the technical preparations and will dispense the revised pensions through banks, post offices, ATMs and electronic wallets.

Separately, the Ministry of Social Solidarity will begin disbursing the Takaful & Karama cash assistance on 15 July 2026. The programme will reach 4.7 million families – about 17 million citizens – via all ATM networks and online channels. No additional increase for the Takaful & Karama benefit has been announced; the July payout follows the same schedule as the pension increase. Beneficiaries can verify their entitlement and payment amounts through the ministry’s website by entering their national ID.

Both measures are part of a broader social‑protection package aimed at easing the cost‑of‑living pressure on seniors and low‑income households.
