Egypt to transition to winter time in October 2026
Egypt is scheduled to transition from daylight saving time to winter time in 2026. According to Law No. 24 of 2023, daylight saving time will conclude at the end of Thursday, October 29, 2026. The shift to winter time will officially begin on Friday, October 30, 2026, at midnight, when clocks will be set back by 60 minutes from 12:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
The implementation of winter time is part of a government strategy to rationalize energy consumption by reducing the need for artificial lighting during the shorter daylight hours of the winter season. This transition affects various daily schedules, including work, school, transportation, and commercial operating hours.
Most modern smartphones and digital devices can update automatically if the time and time zone settings are set to automatic. For devices that do not, users can manually adjust settings through the system or general management menus under date and time options.
