Egypt facing extreme heatwave and high humidity

Egypt is expected to experience a period of intense heat and high humidity from August 10 to August 14, 2026. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has warned of a new heatwave beginning Tuesday, August 11, which could drive perceived temperatures in Greater Cairo to over 41°C due to extreme humidity levels.

Humidity levels are projected to reach up to 95% in coastal areas and approximately 85% in Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta. This moisture, driven by the Indian Monsoon and Mediterranean air masses, is expected to make the heat feel significantly more intense than recorded shade temperatures.

Forecasted conditions include morning fog on roads leading to Cairo, the Canal cities, and parts of Upper Egypt, potentially impacting driving visibility. Additionally, wind activity is expected in parts of the Western Desert and southern regions toward the end of the week.
