EgyptAir launches direct Venice–Cairo service to boost Italy‑Egypt travel

EgyptAir inaugurated a new direct air link between Venice's Marco Polo Airport and Cairo, operating two weekly flights starting 1 July 2026. The ceremony was attended by the Egyptian ambassador to Italy, Bassam Essam Rady, and EgyptAir’s General Manager for Italy and Malta, Salah Tawfik. The route makes Venice the airline’s third Italian hub after Rome‑Fiumicino and Milan‑Malpensa and is intended to strengthen tourism and business flows between the North‑East of Italy and Egypt.

The carrier plans to offer about 10 000 seats in the summer season, targeting around 20 000 seats for the winter of 2026‑27, with an expected load factor of 80 % and roughly 7 000 passengers by the end of October. EgyptAir foresees adding a third weekly frequency by October 2026 and further increasing winter capacity. The new connection is part of a broader expansion strategy that aims for 68 additional Egypt‑Italy flights by summer 2026, leveraging Cairo as a hub for onward travel to Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
