Egyptian Agriculture Ministry highlights farmer support and pesticide oversight in July 2026

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation reported a series of actions during the week of 17‑23 July 2026 aimed at boosting agricultural and livestock production and strengthening food security in Egypt. Activities included the launch of an international animal‑wealth conference, an exhibition with 75 companies, and meetings with poultry and dairy producers, as well as plans to expand date‑palm and olive cultivation in South Sinai.

The ministry issued 368 operating licences for production projects, 71 permits for small‑scale breeders and 51 technical approvals for new desert‑area ventures. Over 39 000 cattle were vaccinated in June and more than one million birds immunised, supported by field visits to 700 farms and collection of 11 000 samples to monitor disease.

In the feed sector, 399 feed formulas (local and imported) were registered, 31 factories received support and 5.7 tonnes of non‑compliant feed additives were destroyed following more than 30 000 laboratory analyses. An international scientific conference was organised, 70 specialists were trained, and delegations from Arab and Asian countries participated, with Egypt also attending UN desert‑combating meetings.

The Pesticide Committee disclosed that in the first half of 2026 it issued 11 853 approvals, permits and certificates, including 2 406 technical import approvals and 2 340 customs releases. It conducted 46 training programmes across 19 governorates, qualifying over 1 600 individuals—applicators, managers and factory supervisors. Additionally, 251 permits for local pesticide trade, 25 licences for pesticide factories and various export‑crop and disinfectant certifications were granted. The committee also took part in the early‑July Egyptian‑Chinese economic conference with a senior Chinese delegation.
