Egyptian Ambassador Rady Highlights Growing Italy‑Egypt Economic and Strategic Ties

Egyptian Ambassador to Italy Bassam Essam Rady said Italy and Egypt enjoy a partnership rooted in shared history and a strategic Mediterranean position. Bilateral trade has reached about €6 billion, with more than 150 Italian companies operating in Egypt.

Rady pointed to joint projects such as a proposed maritime corridor linking the Italian port of Trieste with Egypt’s port of Damietta, aimed at boosting commercial links. Tourism is also rebounding, with Italian visitor numbers again exceeding one million after a post‑Arab‑Spring decline.

The ambassador highlighted Egypt’s new administrative capital as an investment opportunity for Italian firms and stressed that Egypt views Italy as its main gateway to the European Union. Cooperation spans economic, cultural, transport and security domains, reflecting a “better than ever” relationship between the two nations.
