Egyptian Authorities Seize 85 Tons of Used Cooking Oil and 12,000 Illicit Medical Items
In Asyut Governorate, a large‑scale inspection coordinated by Governor Mohamed Alwan and the Ministry of Supply seized 85 tonnes of used cooking oil from a recycling plant in Al‑Fath that was operating in violation of health regulations. The seized oil was confiscated, legal procedures were initiated and the case was forwarded to the public prosecutor.
In Gharbia Governorate, a joint raid by the regional supply directorate and the Egyptian Drug Authority shut down an unlicensed shop in Tanta that was storing and distributing medical supplies of unknown origin. Inspectors confiscated roughly 12 000 items, including 6 450 syringes, 2 200 liquid devices, masks, cotton, plaster rolls and other medical materials. The goods were seized and the perpetrators faced legal action.
