Egyptian authorities seize unlicensed sugary drinks and snack products in food safety raids

In the Qalyubia governorate, food‑safety officials seized 30,000 bottles of a 45‑gram sugary drink intended for children from an unlicensed warehouse in Abu Zaabal, labeling the product as of unknown origin and a health risk. The same operation intercepted 2.5 tonnes of subsidised flour destined for local bread production and issued 16 bakery violations for weight, specification and hygiene breaches.

In the neighboring Gharbia governorate, inspectors shut down the unlicensed "Bir Salam" snack factory in Tanta and confiscated half a tonne of snack products of unknown source containing impurities. Both raids were carried out under the directives of the regional governors and the National Food Safety Authority, with the seized items handed over to the public prosecutor for legal action.
