Egyptian Dakahlia and Gharbia governorates seize illegal food products in safety raids
In Dakahlia, regulatory agencies conducted three days of inspections across markets, bakeries, fuel stations and warehouses. They shut down two unlicensed dairy plants, confiscating 10 tons of salt and half a ton of mozzarella cheese at one site and seven tons of salt at the other. The raids also resulted in 191 bakery‑related violations and 26 market violations covering production standards, labeling and consumer‑protection rules.
In the neighboring Gharbia governorate, food‑safety inspectors targeted an unlicensed factory that was preparing confectionery. Officers seized 800 kilograms of candy and chocolate containing insects, preventing the products from reaching the market. The operation was led by the governor and the head of the National Food Safety Authority’s Gharbia branch, and legal proceedings were initiated against the offenders.
