Egyptian government sets August 2026 salary payment dates and raises minimum wages
Egypt's Ministry of Finance announced that salaries for government employees will be paid starting 23 August 2026, with arrears to be disbursed on 6, 9 and 10 August. Payments can be collected through ATMs, bank branches, post offices and electronic wallets.
The new pay scale raises the minimum monthly income for civil servants to 8,000 EGP. Specific minimum amounts were listed for each grade, ranging from 8,000 EGP for the lowest grade to 17,400 EGP for the highest. The increase includes a 12 % periodic allowance for civil‑service law employees, a 15 % basic‑salary allowance for non‑law employees, and an additional 750 EGP incentive, costing the state 77.5 billion EGP.
A detailed schedule was provided for each ministry and agency, beginning with the House of Representatives, National Security Council and Central Auditing Organization on 23 August, followed by a second wave of ministries on 24 August, and a final round for any delayed payments on 25‑27 August.
