Egyptian governorates intensify market inspections and food safety raids

Authorities in Egypt's Dakahlia and Assiut governorates have intensified market inspections to ensure compliance with food safety and supply regulations.

In Dakahlia, regulatory campaigns led by the Ministry of Supply resulted in 128 violations being recorded. These infractions included issues in bakeries, public markets, and among supply traders, such as weight discrepancies, lack of proper records, and selling goods above official prices. Officials also seized 1,700 kg of subsidized flour that was being held for sale in markets.

In Assiut, specifically within the Sahel al-Sليم district, coordinated health and supply inspections led to 35 violations. The campaign focused on hygiene and food quality, resulting in the destruction of 22 kg of expired or spoiled food products. Local officials emphasized that these periodic inspections aim to protect citizens from fraud and ensure the availability of high-quality goods at fair prices.
