Egyptian Housing Minister Randa Al‑Manshawi Inspects Matrouh Water and Tourism Projects

Minister of Housing and Urban Communities Randa Al‑Manshawi and Matrouh Governor Mohamed Al‑Zamalt visited several water‑desalination facilities in the governorate. They inspected the Ramelah 1‑2 plant, which operates at a design capacity of 48,000 cubic metres per day with eight units, and the new Ramelah 4 plant, delivering 65,000 cubic metres per day and slated to reach 130,000 cubic metres with future expansion. Both projects aim to secure reliable drinking‑water supplies for residents and the seasonal influx of tourists during the summer.

The officials also toured the "Elm Rom" coastal‑development scheme undertaken by Qatari Diar. Spanning roughly 4,900 feddans and a 7.2‑km shoreline, the project involves a $3.5 billion direct investment, projected to total $29.7 billion. Planned works include a distinctive main gateway, a double‑carriageway road of about 3.5 km, a central island with landscaping, extensive drainage, lighting, security infrastructure, a temporary sales centre, a VIP area, a 100‑car parking facility, and beach‑recreation amenities. Al‑Manshawi said the development “reflects the success of the partnership with the private sector” and will boost sustainable tourism and investment in Matrouh.
