Egyptian Housing Minister Randa Al‑Manshawi pushes road projects and real‑estate developers law
Housing Minister Randa Al‑Manshawi chaired a meeting with senior officials of the Central Construction Authority to review the execution status of two major traffic corridors in Alexandria. The "Omar Suleiman" western ring road will link the Cairo‑Alexandria desert highway, Borg El Arab airport, the industrial zone and the north‑west coast over 20 km, while the first phase of the "Mohamed Naguib" axis includes a new bridge and tunnel connections to integrate the city’s main arteries.
The session also covered the development of the historic Tajalli al‑A‘zam site at Saint Catherine, aiming to preserve its religious and environmental significance while adding visitor facilities and infrastructure.
In a separate discussion, the minister examined the draft law establishing the Egyptian Union of Real Estate Developers. The proposal seeks to create a professional regulatory framework, require developers to obtain membership, set classification criteria based on project size, financial health and performance, and protect buyers through dispute‑resolution mechanisms and a specific marketing‑agent legislation.
