Egyptian MP Ahmed Bilal and Minister Manal Awad address Mahalla cleanliness, investment plan and market crisis

Egyptian Member of Parliament Ahmed Bilal met with Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad at the ministry headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to discuss a range of service and development issues affecting the governorate of Gharbia, especially the city of Mahalla. Bilal highlighted the deteriorating waste‑collection system and urged the rapid contracting of a private firm for household garbage collection, as well as the provision of new cleaning equipment for the city. He also raised concerns about uneven distribution of investment‑plan funds among governorate cities, called for a review of road‑paving projects, and warned that some previously completed roads were being duplicated.

The discussion also covered the crisis facing traders in the Abbasiy market, which Bilal described as a "collective punishment" after contract violations, leading to court sentences and arrests of several traders. In a related session, Minister Awad received a larger delegation of MPs from Qalyubia, Gharbia and Cairo. The group reiterated demands for improved sanitation, private‑sector participation in solid‑waste management, upgraded sewage facilities, enforcement of building permits, new bus‑stop facilities, road resurfacing, and the re‑organization of the Al‑Akrasha industrial zone. They also sought equitable allocation of investment‑plan resources and progress on the presidential "Decent Life" initiative.
