In late July, Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment, Manal Awad, met World Bank officials to accelerate the integrated waste‑city project in the 10th of Ramadan city and conducted field inspections in Port Said, highlighting pending service requests and cleanliness issues in Al‑Amal housing. The ministry reported full implementation of its 2025/2026 investment plan and announced new technology centres, a review of the Green Sharm project, and inspections across governorates.

A week later, Awad met with MP Ahmed Bilal and a larger delegation of parliamentarians to discuss deteriorating waste‑collection services in Mahalla, calling for the rapid contracting of a private firm and new cleaning equipment. The meeting also addressed uneven distribution of investment‑plan funds, road‑paving duplications, and a market crisis in the Abbasiy market. Delegates pressed for broader sanitation improvements, private‑sector participation in solid‑waste management, upgraded sewage facilities, enforcement of building permits, new bus‑stop facilities, and re‑organisation of the Al‑Akrasha industrial zone, linking these demands to the presidential “Decent Life” initiative.
