Egyptian Stock Exchange Unveils Reform Package to Boost Market and Attract Investment
The Egyptian Stock Exchange hosted a conference at its Cairo headquarters to announce a comprehensive reform package aimed at developing the capital market and drawing new investment. Speakers included Omar Redwan, president of the exchange, Mohamed Sabri, deputy president, Finance Minister Ahmed Kjouk, Investment and International Trade Minister Mohamed Fared, and Islam Azam, head of the Financial Regulatory Authority.
Key measures outlined were the introduction of new financial products, a technology upgrade with artificial‑intelligence tools, and a suite of tax incentives. Companies listed on the exchange can benefit from a 15 % tax discount on payable taxes for three years, while stamp‑duty rates for non‑resident investors were cut from 1.25 ‰ to 0.5 ‰. The reforms are expected to raise the market‑capitalisation, which already stands at roughly 1.4‑4.1 trillion Egyptian pounds, and daily trading volumes exceeding 13 billion pounds. New investor registrations have risen to more than 385 000 since the start of the year, signalling growing confidence in the market’s future.
