Egyptian supply authorities issue hundreds of violations in Dakahlia and Qalyubia
Regulatory authorities in the Egyptian governorates of Dakahlia and Qalyubia conducted extensive inspections of bakeries, markets, and supply merchants during the first week of August 2026.
In Dakahlia, inspectors issued 880 violations between August 2 and August 8. The largest portion of these, 545 violations, were recorded at bakeries regarding weights, specifications, and operating hours. Market inspections resulted in 312 violations, including the seizure of goods from unknown sources, meat, poultry, and fish. Additionally, authorities seized 700 liters of diesel and various food staples such as sugar, oil, and pasta.
In Qalyubia, inspections led to 55 recorded violations. These primarily concerned municipal bakeries and commercial activities, with issues including insufficient bread weights, failure to meet quality specifications, hygiene lapses, and the failure to provide citizens with bread disbursement receipts. Authorities monitored gas depots and fuel stations as part of the ongoing efforts to ensure the proper distribution of subsidized goods.
