Egyptian Tax Authority launches service‑focused outreach and new stock‑market tax incentives

The Egyptian Tax Authority, operating under Finance Minister Ahmed Koko and headed by Rasha Abdel Aal, has shifted its communication from public awareness to direct service. It has created mobile tax committees within professional unions—including doctors, pharmacists, engineers and artists—that provide on‑site assistance with tax filings, electronic invoicing, legislative explanations and technical support via dedicated WhatsApp groups and the 16395 hotline.

In parallel, the Authority, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Financial Regulatory Authority, approved amendments to the 2005 Income Tax Law and the 1980 Stamp Duty Law to stimulate the Egyptian stock market. The changes exempt capital gains on listed securities from income tax, apply only a relative stamp duty, introduce cash incentives for companies that list shares, simplify accounting for unlisted securities and eliminate double taxation on dividend distributions, all aimed at encouraging investment and increasing market liquidity.
