Egypt's Agriculture Minister joins 17th Bosphorus Summit in Istanbul

Alaa Farouk, Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, participated in the 17th Bosphorus Summit held in Istanbul, Turkey. Under the theme “Global Transformation and the Search for Stability,” the summit brought together international ministers, officials, and economic leaders to discuss strategic issues including political stability, international trade, regional security, and artificial intelligence.

During a panel discussion titled “Water, Food, and Agricultural Security: The Silent Global Crisis,” Farouk emphasized that food security is a fundamental pillar of national security and international stability. He noted that global supply chain disruptions, geopolitical conflicts, and rising costs for transport and insurance have significantly impacted food security.

Farouk called for enhanced international cooperation to build resilient production, storage, and distribution systems. He highlighted the need for innovative international mechanisms to combat climate change and its impact on agricultural production, while advocating for the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence to improve agricultural efficiency and supply chain development.
