Egypt's Agriculture Ministry expands farm visits, pesticide testing

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation intensified field outreach in Upper Egypt, dispatching advisory teams to Minya, Asyut and Sohag. Under Minister Alaa Farouk’s direction, senior officials including Dr. Ahmed Rizq and Dr. Khaled Gad inspected farms, agricultural service centers and dairy collection points, meeting directly with farmers to discuss technical recommendations and improve productivity in line with Egypt’s 2030 vision.

At the same time, the central laboratory of the Agricultural Research Center continued large‑scale analysis of pesticide residues and heavy metals in food. In July 2026 the lab processed more than 24,000 samples, covering export products, imports from Libya and Mauritius, and domestic goods. Lab director Dr. Hind Abdel Laha highlighted the work’s role in safeguarding food safety, supporting export competitiveness and meeting international standards.
