Cairo foreign ministers endorse US‑Iran Islamabad memorandum and regional security plan

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al‑Sisi hosted a meeting of foreign ministers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan in Cairo. The four ministers welcomed the signing of the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” between the United States and Iran on 18 June 2026, describing it as a constructive step toward de‑escalation and a reduction of regional security risks that affect energy markets, maritime routes and global supply chains.

The joint statement stressed that further negotiations must take into account the security concerns of Gulf and Arab states and reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian issue to any lasting peace. The ministers praised Pakistan’s mediation role and Qatar’s support, and they pledged continued coordination among the four countries. High‑level talks involving delegations from the United States, Iran, Qatar and others are set to continue in Switzerland to ensure implementation of the memorandum and to advance a final, durable agreement.

Sisi emphasized that a comprehensive settlement must guarantee freedom of navigation, respect for sovereignty and the rights of the Palestinian people while supporting broader regional stability.
