Egypt's Export Development Fund aims to expand food exports to Europe and Africa

The Egyptian Export Development Fund, led by CEO Hatem El-Nawawi, met with the Export Council for Food Industries to discuss plans for increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian food exports. The discussion highlighted a target to diversify markets, especially in Europe and Africa, and to raise the value‑added content of exports. Export performance data showed the sector reaching $6.8 billion in 2025, a 12% growth year‑on‑year, with Arab countries accounting for 51% of shipments, the EU 19%, other regions 16%, and the United States 6%.

In a separate meeting, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid consulted with officials from Procter & Gamble about the company's current investments in Egypt and its strategy to expand local manufacturing and boost exports to Gulf markets and Africa. Farid emphasized Egypt’s strategic location, its network of free‑trade agreements—including the African Continental Free Trade Area—and the government’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at attracting quality foreign direct investment, creating jobs, and enhancing industrial competitiveness.
