Egypt's Housing Ministry Announces 15,000 New Rental Units

Minister Randa Al‑Manshawi said the Social Housing Fund and the Ministry’s real‑estate financing arm will launch 15,000 rental apartments this month. The rollout includes 8,464 units of 90 m² in governorates such as Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia and Aswan, 80 units of 75 m² in Minya, and 3,256 units of 90 m² and 650 units of 75 m² in new‑city projects like New October, 15 May and New Al‑Bur. An additional 3,280 units are part of the presidential “Hayat Karima” initiative.

The minister also reported ongoing field inspections of housing projects in new cities, covering the “Housing for All Egyptians” programme, the “Diārna” scheme and green‑housing developments. She emphasized continued construction of limited‑income ownership units slated for release before the end of the year.

A recently issued housing law grants the fund tax‑ and fee‑exempt status on loans, bonds and judicial costs, and defines its financing sources, including percentages of state‑owned land sales and revenues from the fund’s own assets.
