Egypt's Minister Manal Awad finalizes city master plans and reports population unit achievements

Egypt's Minister of Local Development and Environment, Dr. Manal Awad, announced the completion of detailed master plans for the cities of Minya in Minya Governorate and Youssef El‑Siddiq in Fayoum Governorate. The plans outline land‑use zones, public services, residential and investment areas, and road networks, aiming to guide orderly urban growth and support the country's Vision 2030 development goals.

Awad also presented a July 2026 report on the ministry's population units, noting 1,870 training, awareness and service activities carried out across 26 governorates. The initiatives reached about 796,000 beneficiaries, achieving 71% of the annual targets. Key focus areas included reducing birth rates, youth empowerment, women’s empowerment, education, and governance, with progress ranging from 59% to 88% across these pillars. The report highlighted the upcoming "Population Work Pioneers" initiative to further strengthen local population development efforts.
